About Us
Goals
To achieve our mission, we have the following goals:
- Adhere to North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (NCDCDEE) guidelines and rules
- Adhere to National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethics
- Our teachers have degrees and experience in early childhood education
- Teachers will continue pursuing their education to ensure that their methods remain current
- Each age group will follow a NCDCDEE approved curriculum and assessments that ensures cognitive and social development
- Each classroom will be:
- Welcoming and safe
- Full of things to manipulate and explore
- Clean and organized
- Family members, community agencies and institutions will be invited to:
- Volunteer
- Offer services or resources
Our Philosophy
The primary objective of Play 2 Learn Preschool is to provide a learning center where we work with our families to support their child’s education and social growth.
Owners
Brian and Michelle Bertine have lived in Winston-Salem for most of their lives. It is here that they met each other and raised their two children. After a long career in insurance, Brian wanted to do something else. Michelle has a degree in elementary education and has always dreamt of opening a school. Together, they worked to create Play 2 Learn Preschool.
Classrooms for ages 3 to 5
Three-Year-Old
When children reach age three, they have already learned to do so much. They are able to communicate and follow two-part instructions. They can put puzzles together and dress themselves. Our teachers will guide their students so that they continue to strengthen these skills and others.

Four-Year-Old
When children reach age four, they have already learned to do so much. At this age, they love to learn new things. They are beginning to understand grammar. Also, they can name numbers and colors.

Five-Year-Old
When children reach age five, they have already learned to do so much. At this age, they like to be more like their friends. They are able to tell simple stories. They are also able to print some letters and numbers.
